Meet our new bike for the project, Free Spirit! We found a good ole bike for a decent price at a local garage sale. It's a Ted Williams Brand Free Spirit from Sears Roebuck & Co. It's kinda heavy, weighing in at 19.27 kg (42.5 lb), but the frame's thick walled steel tube construction will make it easy to work with if we need to do any welding. It has a 3 speed internal hub gearbox with pedal brakes on the rear wheel and caliper brakes on the front.
Today we took measurements of the bicycle frame in preparation for CAD modeling that will help us understand how big a flywheel system we can fit on the bicycle.
